If you are in the vicinity of Los Angeles, it’s time to take one last pilgrimage to Samuel French on Sunset Blvd. I remember going there the first time I went to Hollywood and it sure felt like a rite of passage. The hub of all things Tinsel Town. A store that sold produced screenplays and screenwriting books, among others for film, television and theater.
Samuel French, we’re sorry to see your brick and mortar presence disappear.

I was crushed by this news. Samuel French was my second home, especially during my teen years. I discovered so many playwrights. I’m relieved to know that it will live on at other locations and online, but the Sunset location was a special store!
