Daily Dose: Screenwriter Interview

It’s our holy grail–winning a Nicholl Fellowship. If you’ve ever had a nagging suspicion that it might not be all it’s cracked up to be… here’s a case in point to prove Nicholl’s status on top.

From the Done Deal Pro archives comes a screenwriter interview. (BTW, Done Deal is a great site for industry news.)

Creighton Rothenberger by Will Plyler

The interview is full of insight and inspiration for any screenwriter. One of my take-aways is when Rothenberger said: “The key to becoming a better writer is rewriting.” Which is something he learned by punching out several scripts in a row and seeing his skills improve.

I know we hear this point all the time, but I liked the subtext of his statement. He wasn’t just better due to writing more scripts. It was how much his rewriting was improving with every script.
